PERSONAL HEALTH AND FITNESS COACHING

Working ‘hands on’ with people has been the bedrock of my business over the last 18 years and is still the side of the job that I find most rewarding. I have successfully worked with 100’s of clients of all ages and abilities helping them achieve their health, fitness and body composition goals. My ethos is quiet simple, Personal means personal and so my approach is to work closely with my clients to identify their specific traits and characteristics, strengths and weaknesses and to create a goal oriented, fully bespoke training, nutrition and lifestyle protocol designed around them. Using my CORE 4 pillars of holistic wellness as a resource for best practices and sound decision-making, my objective is to coach, direct and educate clients in order to create a sustainable culture and long lasting results. I am available to work with clients from the comfort of their homes, corporate gym or private studios across Central and Southwest London.

Recently I have been able to expand my services to reach individuals and clients whom I cannot see in person thanks to my Online Health & Fitness Coaching platform. This has been hugely rewarding as it has allowed me to positively influence the lives of people in a personal way, beyond the constraints of time or geography.

ONLINE HEALTH AND FITNESS COACHING

Thanks to advances in technology, intuitive use of instant communication platforms and ease of access to online content it is now possible to share information and reach people all over the world and at any time of night or day. While such advances in connectivity and increased exposure to technology may come with some health related downsides, when used correctly they can provide incredibly powerful tools. My Online Health & Fitness Coaching platform (SHM Fit App) allows me to work personally with clients, unrestricted by location, accessibility or affordability and offer them the benefits of my 18 years experience as a Personal Trainer and Strength Coach as well as insight into my continued study and protocol refinement.

The SHM Fit App offers clients many of the benefits of working 1-2-1 with a Coach and is formulated around the fundamental principles of my exercise, training and nutritional philosophies and built on sound research based methodologies and protocols. The SHM FIT app serves to provide clients with the relevant information, practical tools and personal accountability necessary to create lasting and sustainable improvements to their fitness, body composition and general health regardless of location. All individually tailored 4, 8 and 12 week programs and Monthly Subscription Packages start out with a 30 min video consultation to help establish current training levels and practices, body composition and metrics and current dietary habits. The next step is for me to take this information and create a blueprint for your success, delivered and monitored through the App. Membership gives clients access to :

PERFORMANCE STRENGTH & CONDITIONING

Enhancing fundamental human movement patterns and functional strength requirements are, for the most part, universal principles applicable to everybody and not exclusively requirements of the athlete or sports person. However, when it comes to working with more competitive or professional individuals or teams it is that widely accepted that optimizing the last 20% of specificity relative to that person or group can be the all important factor in maximizing performance and outcomes in particular disciplines, skills or sports.

As well as general principles of human movement, my Performance Strength & Conditioning programs are designed around on 2 key modules – (1) Performance & Skill Specific Optimization and (2) Injury Prevention and/or Rehabilitation. Beginning with an initial screening and assessment process Systematic, periodized programs are then developed focusing on the requirements of the individual or group in terms of Strength, Speed, Agility and Explosiveness.

My reputation for being obsessive when it comes to technique is something I’m unapologetic about, and a major emphasis is placed on teaching correct form in order to maximize athletes’ execution and outcomes and minimize risk. Regular assessment across multiple parameters is used to help understand an individual’s response to their training programme. Detailed attention is always paid to training load and volume, specific injury predispositions as well as the importance of correct nutrition and recovery protocols as key components in an athletes overall regimen.

NUTRITION & LIFESTYLE CONSULTATION / PRESENTATION

I have always had a love of food and appreciation for the importance of wholesome nutrition in creating better health. I am an avid learner, researcher and experimenter in the field and adopt an open, intelligent and non-dogmatic approach when it comes to advising clients on what’s best for them in order to achieve their goals.

More recently I have expanded my areas interest and exploration into the broader fields of Health and Wellness including the roles played by hormones, genetics, sleep and stress management and the interrelationships between these core elements for achieving better health and lifestyle outcomes. In an effort to illustrate these processes I have created the CORE 4, the fundamental pillars of Health, Fitness and Wellness as I interpret them.

I am abundantly aware of the glut of ‘information’ and ‘miss-information’, science and pseudoscience that people are exposed to daily, from an ever-increasing population of ‘experts’ and ‘influencers’. My goal is to use all of my experience, continued research and personal experimentation to educate and advise people ethically and to try to help them navigate through the noise on their personal journey towards better health.

I am available to both individuals and corporate groups to consult, advice and present on the broader areas of health and wellness, breakdown and debunk modern myths and fad trends and help formulate and implement lifestyle changes and habits that are achievable and sustainable. Science repeatedly shows that ‘healthier’ people tend to perform better in the workplace and are often better equipped to deal with the challenges of life.……We don’t, however, need science to tell us that healthier people are typically happier people.
