It has never been easier to acquire information on any and every subject as it is today. Our fingertip proximity and split second access to knowledge is indeed a wonderful resource, however it has created a world in which opinion and advice has become unlimited and unregulated and as such understanding and decision making has become increasingly difficult to execute with any degree of certainty.
There is probably no space where this is more prevalent than the world of Health, Wellness and Nutrition. In an industry, which has always struggled with conflicts of opinion and contrasting schools thought, we are now exposed to a daily onslaught of ‘information’ and ‘miss-information’, science and pseudoscience, fads and fashions, across every conceivable platform, from an ever-increasing population of ‘experts’ and ‘influencers’.
Having worked across the Health and Fitness industry for almost 20 years, I have witnessed this evolution first hand and at close quarters and this exposure has compelled me to evolve my own belief systems and practices. Today, my objective is to use all of my experience, ongoing research and personal experimentation to educate and advise people ethically and to try to help them navigate through the noise and plot an achievable course towards a healthier, more productive, and enhanced way of living.
I created CORE 4 in an effort to try to refine and curate this abundant ‘information’ into a more simplistic, digestible and evidence based, reference system which people can use on a daily basis to help upgrade, sustain and optimize their Health, Fitness, Performance and Well-Being.
Each of the CORE 4 pillars (MOVE; NOURISH; PROTECT; REGENERATE) address specific aspects of Health and Wellness and consists of a collection of tips, simple habits and more detailed practices intended to improve outcomes across the board. It is important to understand however, that just like the physiological systems of the human body, nothing is mutually exclusive. True health and wellness is reflected by the synergistic workings and interrelationships of all areas of life and as such many of the Core 4 suggestions address more than 1 particular pillar.
The beauty of the CORE 4 concept is that it ditches the linear “follow this program” approach that insists upon everyone following the same step-by-step sequence to success. Instead it offers individuals the ability to ‘start’ their journey to upgraded health, anywhere they wish, depending on their current circumstances, and combine any number of “habits” or “action steps” into an immediately achievable and sustainable protocol that sets them up for success.
Habits are formed through frequent, often subconscious, repetition of actions. Science tells us that once a habit is formed, it works effortlessly for you in the background. When lifestyle choices become habitual they become automatic, they happen intuitively and generally require little or no further thought or effort. This in turn frees up time and mental capacity to add more new habits. By tapping into this innate human pathway the CORE 4 provides a powerful resource for helping people make better choices and add layer upon layer of healthy habits over time, without feeling daunting or overwhelmed. Through the process of gaining little win after little win and an awareness of the benefits almost immediately, individuals feel empowered and in control, thus creating the perfect environment and blueprint for enhanced physical, mental and emotional well-being, strength and performance.
